Slapshots book review
RAINY DAY RECIPES
For those of us brought up in the 1950s and early 1960s, this book is like Proust's Madeleine – a reminder of the kinder, gentler days of America's postwar prosperity, and the meals that we ate back then.

In those days before cholesterol worries, motherly cuisine insisted upon the sour cream, butter, canned soups and Jell-0 that pop up in many of Grandma Jean's recipes.

The forward to the book is delightful, with its affectionate biography of Grandma Jean by Kristina Yoshida McMorris, one of her grandchildren. Buy it at www.grandmajean.net, and all net proceeds benefit the Hood Canal Food Bank.
